Product detailed description
This Rkatsiteli 2018 was selected by Japan Airlines for their prestigious wine list offered to first class passengers.
Rkatsiteli is made from 100 percent Rkatsiteli grape grown in the Shalauri zone very old vineyard of 1.5 ha, planted in 1956. The soil is clay-limestone. The wine is natural, made by traditional Qvevri method. Wine is fermented using naturally occurring indigenous wild yeasts. The maceration time for this Rkatsiteli is 6 months. And there’s exactly this long-time skin contact during the maceration, which gives amber wines that iconic amber color and more tannins than conventionally made whites. After the completion of aging wine in Qvevri for another 6 months, wne is bottled and then kept it for aging in bottles at the underground cellar. For Shalauri amber wines to be released to the market, they must be aged for a minimum 2.5 years with at least 12 months in Qvevri.
Tasting notes: Fruity aromas are blended into walnut and dried fruit flavors complimented with firm tannins to guarantee the richness and authenticity of our Rkatsiteli. This wine goes well with boiled lamb with tarragon, with skewer of roasted trout and chicken. It also can be paired with salads and dishes that are seasoned with spices and garlic.
Vinné sklepy Shalauri jsou malým řemeslným výrobcem vína, který má vášeň pro tradiční přírodní gruzínské víno vyrobené v Qvevri. Shalauri měl první víno v roce 2013 s portfoliem zahrnujícím Rkatsiteli, Mtsvane a Saperavi, které byly výhradně vyrobeny tradiční technologickým postupem v Qvevri.
